Inspirational Touchstones

Ever wake up in the morning with the most creative motivation you’ve felt in awhile?  You have ideas, you want to play, your inner artist is screaming for attention…

But then it’s already 6:30am, and you have to get to work, and at work you’re  the business “you” .

Time passes… and that creative motivation fades…

Much too quickly.

That’s been my week, maybe two weeks.  Too much every day of things that need to be done, and not enough creativity and things I want to be done.   I fully admit I am a bit down about it.

But,

I have my touchstones.

And I want you to find some too.

Do you have a favorite song right now that takes you away?  Makes you feel warm, loved, and like you don’t have to just do it all for naught the next day?  Find it, download it, and listen to it over and over without abandon.

This is mine right now:

I love it.

Is there an image that fills you with joy and makes you feel like creating right this instant?!   Pull it out or print it, hang it on your wall… and look at it over and over.

Mine are these colorful images from Flickr as introduced to me this week on Elsie’s Blog

Check them out here.   Such a great reminder how colorful life really is if you look.

Or is there just someone that no matter what always makes you feel like the “you” that you know you are.  Without question you are your absolute self with – silly, quirky, maybe slightly geeky, but 100% you?   Whether it’s an old friend, or an online community of friends…

Or if you’re lucky enough to live with that person…like me:

starwars

Well…

Reach out to them and just talk, I bet you they sometimes feel the exact same way and will offer you the little boost you need.  It will be worth it to put yourself out there and be hugged.

Especially if in doing so they volunteer to bring home ice cream.

It is necessary creative fuel.

(I know I know, that photo needs to be scrapped.  There WILL be a Star Wars layout coming.  You just wait.)

The point of this post dear friends is just to remind you that even if you don’t have time to create every day, if it feels like the ‘projects’  or ideas in your mind are piling up and you haven’t had time… just touch base with the little things that make you feel like you.  You’ll be surprised how just the reminders of these little things will keep you going without feeling down about not having the time to dig into your clay, paint, or paper.   These  touchstones will stay with you until you have the opportunity to let it all come out. ;)

And I send you hugs (and would totally share my ice cream if you were here).

Thanks for stopping by today, and see you soon.
