We Can Make That Wednesday - Votive Holder

Hi All!  How’s your week going?  We’re already to hump day so I can’t complain… though the first full week back after vacation is always just lovely isn’t it?    Comfort… thy name is Triple Tall Skim Latte.

Here’s my next attempt at those items I recently collected as inspiration for crafts I was sure I could make a version of at home.

First off  my inspiration from the Home Decorators site (LOVE their catalog for decorating ideas too):

This super cute votive holder is on sale at their site for $12.00.  I loved the natural feel.

And, here’s my version:

This project took about 10 minutes to make (minus drying time) and cost about $6.00 with tax (using supplies I had on hand too), still a good savings.

Everything I needed was either already in my stash or just a short trip to the craft store away.   Materials used include:

  • Plain wooden base (which I painted with a metallic color) – About $1.99.  These come in all shapes and ranged in Michael’s from $.99 cents on up.  The glass isn’t attached to the base, both for the ability to change it up, or re-purpose some day if I get tired of these and think of another use.
  • Glass candle holder for about $2.99.  These come in every shape and size imaginable too, even square, which would have been closer to my inspiration.   However those were about $5.00, and I was feeling the cylindrical shape a bit more.
  • Spray adhesive (which I had on hand).
  • And a few cloth leaves which I used from my stash.

Simply paint the base, use spray adhesive to attach the elements (to ensure they lay flat and nicely against the glass), and you’re done!  Also consider stickers, rub-ons (yeah!), paint on the glass itself, on and on.   Add words, quotes, the possibilities are limitless.

I’m going to make a couple more of these for a complete set to display on my dining room table I think.

If I can keep Robin’s tail away from the flames…

Hmmmm…

Other than that I’m doing a little purging of ye olde craft space this week and working on some new digi funness that I am so honored and excited about.  Can’t wait to share!

Have a wonderful day, and thanks for stopping by.  :)
