Hi Friends! How’s your week going? I had so much fun this past weekend experimenting with ideas for those 5 things I think we can make that I listed last Friday. I thought we’d start off with a super easy one that you can make as many of as you can.
First here’s my inspiration, a cute little plant stake from Terry’s Village (one of my favorite catalogs for holiday decorations by the way).
)
This one retails for $7.95 (though is on sale for $5.97 at the time of this post – whoohoo sale!).
And, here’s my crafty version:

This was SO easy to make. All you need:
- Large chipboard shape, either a plain one which you can completely customize, or one like mine above which already came with a design.
- Something to act as the ‘stake’. I used one of the multitudes of rub on sticks I’ve collected over the years.
- Any embellishments you wish – letter stickers, rub ons, more chipboard shapes, sky is the limit!
- Glue Dots.
- Paint if you wish to paint your ‘stake’.
All that needs to be done is attach the stake to your chipboard shape and the rest is totally up to you! Here’ s some more ideas for uses for these easy cuties:
- Herb garden markers
- As a homemade card when gifting a plant or flowers
- Make teeny ones for cupcake decorations
- In a vase for place cards (then a take-home keepsake for a garden party lunch)
These are a great way to make use of a chipboard or acrylic mini-album too.
This was so much fun! It may become an ‘every other’ Wednesday goal for now, but I’ve already got the goods to try for the canvas from Pottery Barn next. I’m off to make a mess!
Thanks for stopping by today, and have a wonderful day.
Welcome and come on in! I'm Jess. I love all things crafty, and to share an artistic journey with friends like you. Relax, take a look around, and come back again soon. Thanks for stopping by!

Yours is so much better than the original! I love it, and that butterfly is really beautiful.
