Don’t let him fool you…

Does this boy look innocent and sweet to you?  Does he look like he couldn’t hurt a fly?  Let alone cause someone ten times his size physical harm?

This is Robin, and while greatly misunderstood by many a visitor to our home as stand-offish or even whiny… I must admit… he is my baby.  We have an unspeakable bond when it comes to who can comfort this wild beast… and I take quite a bit of pride in that he runs to me and puts his paws up to be held when no one else will do.

But that comes with a price.

Robin must drink from the faucet, and most of the time decides he’s thirsty at 5:00am.  He’s got an internal clock you would not believe.  Here’s what he’s learned how to do in order to get us up: (HA! “Us”… Alan sleeps through this)

  • Knock pictures off the wall.  We have since relocated all of them to areas he can’t reach from the top of the dresser.
  • Turn ON my alarm clock.  It has a large bar that you can press for a nightlight.  He learned that if he paws at it, I’ll wake up.  I now cover it strategically with a pillow each night.
  • Bounce me – nuff said.  We tried a water gun to dissuade this practice… he’s learned to sit there and take it.  (If he opened his mouth at this point I think we might have a solution)

Now I know you are thinking I am a complete wimp and I should just shut him outside…. a) I’d be kept up by the guilt more than his needing a drink at 5am because I am a HUGE animal softie, and b) tried that, didn’t work…. he rattles the door… all – night – long.

So we’ve come to an agreement he and I… he does one of his tricks and I get up for a moment, turn the faucet to a drip, and get to sleep for another hour before work.  So what exactly happened last night I cannot tell you… perhaps I was too tired to get up… maybe he was not in the mood to wait.

He knocked the lamp onto my head.

It’s a heavy lamp.  Yes it hurt.  And yes I have a mark.  No it wasn’t an accident – it’s too heavy to do with his tail.

I’m a little afraid to go to sleep tonight.

Hope you had a nice weekend…. I am surfing high speed friends! So that means stay tuned for some crafty goodness. :)   Thanks for stopping by today.

Thanks for the laugh, Robin! I needed a day starter.

well, now that is just too funny. Cats are wonderful creatures, and quite smart, aren’t they!

  • OMGosh! Sorry, but I’m laughing at the end of the story. Hope your head is better. My two will wake me at 6 every day (if my alarm doesn’t beat them to it) to get me up to feed them. They get canned food in the morning and that’s one meal they won’t let me forget! LOL Typically Cali meows and paws a couple times at my head. If that doesn’t work, Chester tries purring and walking on me. If I’m still not up, they switch off again and continue the tag team until I do get up. And, yes, that has included things flying off the dresser and night stand. Crazy cats, but I love them nonetheless.

Thanks for the laugh. I won’t show this to Troy as I am still begging for a cat.

  • Yes thats what they mean that cats don´t have owners, they have staff and you should know by now you are on schedule around the clock lol, he looks adorable and I´m sorry you are hurt, but look at him I would forgive anything lol.
