Turning A Corner (into my new space)

What art offers is space – a certain breathing room for the spirit.  ~ John Updike

Hello there!  How has your weekend been?  I hope the Summer breezes where ever you are are bringing you joy and feel as good as they do here.  Actually it’s been quite rainy here but as long as it stays in the 70′s I’m one happy camper. When it gets to be hot and sticky I tend to move at the pace of a sloth.

(Brief pause to reflect that I am writing about the weather… I’m NO good at small talk have I ever mentioned that?  This makes me come across as shy sometimes to people I just meet, but really it’s because I’d rather share our most embarrassing moments and laugh the second I meet you rather than the awkwardness of trying to keep a mundane conversation going.   Mine involves a King Tut costume and a rap in 5th grade… see?  Much more fun.  Anyway…)

I’ve gotten lots accomplished this weekend as far as saying hello again to my crafty space.  I actually moved into a corner of Alan’s office a couple of months ago (once we cleared away years of clutter).  To be fair this room became the dumping ground for everything a) we didn’t know what else to do with, and b) we had yet to unpack from our flood a few years ago.

But here is what it was in all it’s scary glory:

Please note the treadmill.

Moving that stuff off of there was the most we’ve used it for exercise in ages.

Boxes, books, files, a random Panda bear…. oh yeah it’s all in there.  However after weeks of doing a little at a time so it wasn’t overwhelming,

I got to the after:

Scrap Space Makeover After

Much better right?

And a glimpse of several projects I have in the works too.

Now please don’t think I’ve kicked Alan out… oh no his stuff is still definitely in here.

Exhibit A:

Batman

Yes that would be Batman and Robin.  Because really, what scrap space is complete without them?

Batman Scrap Room Hero

My hero.

Now I’m off to make a mess again of my new little corner for creating, but if you ask me, a glitter mess is much better than a dusty one.

Just don’t tell Alan I got glimmer mist on one of his light sabers….

But it looks REALLY pretty now.

Living to fight Dr. No Mojo another day,
