Felt Ipod Cozy

finished

Love your music?

Love felt? (C’mon who doesn’t nowadays)

Well look no further.   Here’s how to make one uniquely yours.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 piece of standard felt in the color of your choice (25 cents!)
  • Embroidery thread
  • Darning needle (or one with a big eye to pass the full strand of embroidery thread through)
  • A button in the color of your choice
  • Felt flowers & bling to make one like mine, or any other embellishments of your choice.

Step by Step:

1.  Start by using your Ipod as a measuring guide.  Place it at the edge of your felt piece, and measure 2 1/2 inches from the top and the side… like so:

 2.  Cut that piece out, and then in two longways… so you have two long rectangles..

3.  Next we’re going to trim both pieces so that we end up with two that look like this:

3

For the one on the left, trim one of those two long rectangles you just created to match the height of your Ipod.

For the one on the right, trim ONLY a small portion of that extra 2 1/2″ tail so the head phone plug can stick out.  (The portion remaining is going to fold up and secure your Ipod so it stays in place… and nice and cozy).

4.  Now we’re going to stitch it together.  Using a Whip Stitch, sew together the sides and top of the two pieces – don’t sew the bottom.  (A whip stitch is simply sewing around the edges… here’s a great tutorial video on You Tube if you’d like).  And use whatever colors float your boat.  I went with pink and black:

How very Miley Cyrus of me.

5.  Next, attach the button to the side of the sewn piece that the flap folds up onto.  And cut a small slit in the flap that will be your button hole.  Cut it small… felt is very stretchy.

6.  Now all that’s left is to embellish!  My favorite part. I used pre-cut felt blossoms and a little bling (of course).

Here’s the back:
