I had so much fun yesterday! Alan and I piled into the car to drive a couple hours north to meet Mom and Sis for lunch in Wisconsin. I so needed to get out and get some fresh air (and sometimes I need at least 100 miles between me and the city – STAT).
We have a tradition it seems before we get on the road. There has to be a stop at Dunkin Donuts for coffee before we get underway.

Iced lite latte for me and turbo charged something or other for Alan. He rambles off a DD order like I do one at Starbucks - together we are bi-javalingual.

Shutterbug. I pretty much snapped photos all day long. Fun times!

I thought this house was absolutely gorgeous! Actually I think it’s a Bed and Breakfast. My room would be in the tower. And I’d make Alan stand below and shout “Let down your hair!”. And he would, because we’re goofy like that.
Right across from this I saw something rather disturbing:

Now… mind you it has been below zero in the Midwest several days the past month… but it was 50 yesterday! Are you kidding me? People were driving their trucks out there too! I’m sure they knew much better than I about when the lake is and is not safe, but good golly… it was 50!! I had to look away.

Where we ate lunch. And no it’s not “that” Popeye’s. But they do have some of the best rotisserie chicken I have ever, ever had. Highly recommended if you’re ever in the area!
And of course I was with these lovely people:

They are too cool for school.
We had ultimately planned to attend Lake Geneva’s Winterfest, for which the main event was a snow sculpting competition. Alas… who has a snow sculpting competition in 50 degrees? Well they did, but by the time we got there they were mush. However in my mind they were lovely.

I was aiming for the color in the sign which I loved – but caught that cute old couple holding hands in the lower right. Aw.
Coffee #2:

(We do not however seem to speak the language at Caribou Coffee… don’t ask for a “machiatto” here… lest you be hand-slapped… I like Starbucks.)
And one last glimpse of an (almost) uninterupted sky on the drive back home.

No skyscrapers in the way anyway.
I am refreshed – I didn’t realize how bad my cabin fever was until about 10 miles into it I became a giddy chatty Cathy. Of course part of that was probably getting to see Mom and Vickie. I miss them!
We also stopped at an antique store on the way home in which I went photo cra-za-zy. I LOVE browsing those stores. I came home with a wonderful find that I have been wanting so much, will post those later on this week! Whoohoo!
(P.S. – you should never fear I will forget to follow up on something for my Mom will remind me… hence new Project 365 photos are added and yes, Alan really likes my hair.
)
Thanks for stopping by and see you soon!
