The Orton Effect

This is by far – one of my favorite new Photoshop tricks.  It gives the right photos such a beautiful, celestial, feel – and is basically putting the image of your photo on top of an out of focus copy.  They used to do this with film – but yay technology now we can do it in the comfort of our own home! :)   Here’s a couple before and afters:

Nice Giraffe.  This was taken on safari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.  I just love these graceful animals.  And here he is “Ortonized”:

Gorgeous!   Here’s one more… pretty flowers before hand:

And beautiful heavenly flowers after!

Isn’t that fun?!  You can learn how to do this to by clicking and going here.  It’s so easy!  This will definitely give some pizazz to some ho-hum photos I have lying around.

Are you going out tonight?  Any special plans to ring in 2009?  We are most likely staying home and having a nice quiet night in.  We are so ready for another year we can hardly stand it.  And I have so many plans for things to do next year too.  One of which being improving and practicing my photography with a group of gals in our own version of “Project 365″ on Flickr (a photo per day for a year).  You can see I’ve added a widget to the right with some photos under that heading… I won’t post them here daily but the feed will come through there for you to watch and click on any that float your boat to go to Flickr and see more. :)   Maybe I’ll do a fave of the week though… or month… we shall see.  The goal is just to commit to it and keep going.

So, have a wonderful and safe night if you are heading out.  Enjoy any parties you might be going to… or enjoy your couch and the ball drop if you’re like us.    Thank you for a wonderful year of blogging – and see you in 2009!!
