A New Path

Journaling reads:

My life hasn’t necessarily gone quite “exactly” how I may have pictured when I was younger.  There have been unforeseen challenges that have altered my path along the way.  But, I really look forward to where my life is taking me, as I am happy, healthy, and have learned that the most imporatant part, is the journey.

10 years ago tomorrow… I turned 21.

I was a senior in college and had already met the man I would marry (and knew it).

I could eat all the fast food I cared too and not gain an ounce – and lived off Ramen noodles at times.

I spent the year with the closest of friends, and performed in some way almost every day.

I played the guitar and sang almost every night too.

I’d never hailed a cab.

I paid for my laundry with quarters – except when I could get the “dental floss” trick to work… (don’t ask, and don’t judge.. I was living off Ramen and 25 cents buys 3 packages).

I did not in the slightest way feel like a grown up.

And life was hard at times – but it was so good.

Tomorrow, 10 years later, I turn 31.

I am a professional executive by day / scrap-artist by night.

I have been married to the man of my dreams for 7 years – it took him 3 to propose.

I gain an ounce if I so much as look at the sign for Taco Bell, and spend more money on eating out at restaurants than I should.  But it’s so nice to be able to do.

I am lucky to have a good friend that I laugh with every day, and still keep in touch with those close friends though not as much as I’d like.  (Thank goodness Facebook and MySpace were invented in those 10 years)

I use the performing skills I learned every day – and while I miss the applause – I really like the steady paycheck and insurance thing.

I’m going to get that guitar out of the closet.

I am a PRO at hailing cabs.

I have a brand new state of the art washer and dryer that needs to be paid off.

And I still, do not in the slightest way feel like a grown up.

And life is still hard at times… but so much more wonderful.

Thanks for stopping by today, and have a great weekend. :)
