I grew up in a teeny village right in the middle of the Michigan LP (lower peninsula for you non-Michiganders). It was quite flat (I wonder if that’s why I tend to trip over sun-light now… the slightest hill gives me issues). We lived there until I was 13 going on 14, and to this day I have nothing but overly fond memories of the little place. I think we must have moved to a larger city just in the knick of time before I hit the “I have to get out of here” stage in teenage years, and as a result always long to go back. Or maybe it’s just the same childhood home fondness that we all have.
Then again I am quite the sappy one with it comes to nostalgia.
But I remember some of the best times in my life so far here… where there was a HUGE backyard to play in, only two restaurants to choose from (unless we drove the 30 minutes to McDonald’s), family was less than 5 minutes away, and neighbors knew each other. Well.
Anyway, I’ve started to reconnect with a few friends from this area on Facebook (loving it!), and just last June actually took a side road trip there. There are lots of homes for sale, the main business of the town where my dad worked has long since closed and been replaced with another, and the middle school I attended is closed. As tough as times are everywhere, they seem a little tougher here. But, I still have cousins nearby and in that town, and though most of my old grade school friends have spread beyond its borders they do too, and I wonder if it holds the same nostalgia for them.
In thinking about this, I decided I should get these memories down and into a scrapbook, and have started a digi-album with the new photos I took last May. Here’s the first two:

So! More of these to come until I have the album complete to be mixed in with some old photos as well…I’m sure you’ll see a few little Jess pictures in the near future. Except the perm… I’m never sharing any perm pictures.
Hope your weekend is off to a great start. It’s 50 here! I have the urge to Spring clean so suppose I should strike while that iron is hot.
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!
(P.S. Road trip tomorrow where I get to see my Mom AND my Sister! Yay!)
Welcome and come on in! I'm Jess. I love all things crafty, and to share an artistic journey with friends like you. Relax, take a look around, and come back again soon. Thanks for stopping by!

What a great idea for an album! These are both wonderful. I just love those cute trees too.
Those pages are darling! I’ve been doing the nostalgic thing too on Facebook, lol! But I haven’t made the 4 hour trip up to Rockford…yet! I’m not nostalgic enough to want to remember what winters were like, lol.
