Well Hello There.

*Tap Tap*

Is this thing on?

Yuk yuk yuk. ;)

Hello there friends.  I think the past two and half weeks may have been the longest I’ve gone without blogging since I began to in 2007.  No sappy apologies, I know you all understand life can get in the way, but I will fill you in.

Nothing major, just busyness.

Alan unfortunately had some back issues that led to a hospital stay.  It was a scary first couple of days until they figured out what the problem was (a bad reaction to some medication didn’t help that either).  We needed Dr. House.  That part in the show where they ask you if you’ve been to Mexico in the past month?  And then when you say no and they say “Are you suuuure?”.   Yep that really happens.

And then they ask  if you’ve been drinking un-pasteurized goat’s milk… and your brain goes into overdrive of what in the heck kind of hoof-and-mouth-mad-goat-swine-flu do I have here?!  But you assure them, um…. no.

Poor Alan.  He’s on the mend though.  Some physical therapy is in his future but he’s ok.

And has all too willingly given up the pleasure of mowing the lawn.

That, combined with some hectic times at work  just sapped all the creative energy right out of me.  I’d walk by my scrap room daily, stopping sometimes to look at the unopened pack of  Basic Grey’s June Bug, or my super stash from the Pink Paislee warehouse sale, and just have nothing in my head but “do the laundry… get to the grocery store… mow the lawn… pay the bills… ack! the bills!” and the poor new supplies just laid there untouched.

I think my inner artist went into sleep mode.

But, I’m feeling much more like myself again.   Know what helped so much?  Scrapping about it.

Inspired by Leah’s new digi-kit Sweet as Honey, I just sat down and made something.  No pressure, a photo I already had scrapped, and just a simple design.

Have to wake up that inner artist slowly.

So good morning to you, or afternoon or night whenever you happen to stop by.  Thank you for checking in again after a bit of an absence on my part and hope you are doing well.   I’m looking forward to catching up with you and getting back into my groove this week.

Screw the laundry.

Pass me the Mod Podge.

Have a wonderful day, and see you soon.

Nice to see you blogging again. I totally understand how life sometimes can really sapp your creative spirit. Happens to me every tax season, but when it comes back it feels great!

  • Glad to see you back, hope Alan is back to normal super soon and great layout, new supplies will get the mojo going!

  • I love that layout. I also love that you did a layout on something like that. I’m inspired to do something similar.

  • Cute layout! Always good to scrap about it all!

  • {snort} I like the “screw the laundry” statement…

Good to have you back, Jess!! I loved this layout from the start. ;)

That’s TOTALLY my attitude as well – screw the laundry, pass the MP. You are cracking me up this morning!

  • I totally agree, Jess! And, I’m doing it today. And did it yesterday, only I didn’t do any laundry or dishes. The kids have been ornery and Matt has been working long hours and I am just burned out. So, well, you know what we can do with the laundry :)

I am so glad you are back and love your page. I am glad that Alan is on the mend, too. Now I have that song in my head, too, by the way :) What movie was that in? Oh, I think it was “One Fine Day.” Right? Gotta go watch that one tonight after the kids go to bed. Or, perhaps I’ll be scrapping instead of just talking about it.

  • ugh. so sorry you’ve had a rough couple of weeks, and am glad that Alan is on the road to recovery! .. you’re breaking out of your “missing mojo” beautifully with that awesome lo! Scrap therapy.. 100%! With your blogher conference and CHA right around the corner… I have a feeling you’ll be oozing mojo all over the place.. and laundry will start to pile up again.. like it should! ;)

Fabulous page, girl!! I know you’ve been going through some rough stuff so I’m glad to see that things are turning around! Screw the laundry and pass the MP should totally be on a t-shirt! :)
